Current Habitat Legislative Priorities in South Dakota
In each of the last three years, the legislature and governor have made $10 million available for affordable housing. 2016-2017 was the last year of that funding and no new plan has been announced. Please contact the governor's office to ask about the plan moving forward.
Much of the money for affordable housing is allocated to multi-family rental units. Please help us advocate for affordable homeownership programs
Contact your state representative, the county board of supervisors and the Brookings City Council and let them know that affordable homeownership increases family and community stability, allows employers to more easily grow their workforces and keeps families in our community.
