BROOKINGS – Jessica Wulf, of Brookings, has been named the new Executive Director for Brookings Area Habitat for Humanity. She began her duties Oct. 1.
Wulf is responsible for leading BAHfH’s dedicated team of staff and volunteers in building affordable housing in Brookings and Lake counties, as well as for the Oahe Habitat affiliate in Pierre. Her specific duties will include administration and staff development, fundraising, volunteer leadership, and family, community and stakeholder relations.
BAHfH Board President Keith Rounds said Wulf demonstrates the passion and professionalism that will lead the successful Brookings affiliate to even greater accomplishments.
“As we celebrate our 30th year of building decent and affordable housing for the communities we serve, Jess brings not just a background well-suited to this position, but an enthusiasm and creativity that is invaluable,” said Rounds. “The Board is excited to have her begin her new responsibilities, and we look forward to her leadership and implementation of the strategy that reflects our vision and mission.”
The new CEO has a strong background in community service and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from South Dakota State University in Human Development and Family Studies. Most recently Wulf was the Teen Director of the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains, where she used her skills in collaboration, fundraising and project management to strengthen partnerships throughout the community. Prior to this, she served as a family services specialist and economic assistance benefits specialist for South Dakota Department of Social Services, and as a housing specialist managing programming and eligibility criteria for the Section 8 program. Wulf also was the Housing Committee Chair for the Brookings Empowerment Project.
